A teep kick aka front kick in MuayThai is used as a tool to keep your opponent at a distance and as an overall range finder, much like a jab in boxing but with the foot.

From a solid Muay Thai stance lift, chamber your leg up, knee to chest level. From there, extend your leg towards the intended target, using a pushing motion. I also like to perform it as if I am putting a sharp cleat through my opponent. Once penetrated, I have to retract and pull the cleat out before I return the foot to the floor. This helps in balance and prevents you to fall haphazardly into the next position. Position your foot in a wide position to ensure more surface area of contact.

Performing the teep with the rear leg gives you more range and power on your opponent. Always return your foot back to a strong Muay Thai stance.
